Last year, I read Mari Kondo’s book, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing”. And since I knew we were moving, it seemed like a good time to go through the whole house. I went through the entire book, went through all of the categories and really thought that I did a good job. In fact, I was so confident that I had achieved success that I actually gave the book away to someone else.
And then we moved across the country and into a new house and suddenly I feel surrounded by stuff, like my things were slowly starting to suffocate me. I had been thinking of revisiting Kondo’s method and even printed off a KonMari Decluttering Checklist from the Making Lemonade Blog. Which I promptly lost in a sea of paper on my desk. That meant it was time to get back on track. After all, I’m ready for some life-changing magic!
So since I had already read Mari’s first book, I decided to fast track to the second book, Spark Joy: An Illustrated Master Class On The Art Of Organizing And Tidying Up”. This time, I feel like I can really commit to the whole process. Except that now I have a new baby who is always with me. She’s an amazing napper and very calm and chilled out, but she always seems to need me just when I’m getting into the flow of a project. So I have a feeling this is going to take me a lot longer than I originally intended…
